Nintendo updates Japanese release plans [updated]

Wednesday, February 21, 2007

Nintendo today updated their Japanese release plans for the year. Most notable is the announcement of a sequel to import favorite Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, which had a spiritual sequel in last year's magnificent Elite Beat Agents. Not much is known about that title yet other than that it will be released sometime in 2007.

Also of note is that neither of heavy hitters The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and Animal Crossing Wii have been given a 2007 release date, perhaps indicating both titles are still being worked on substantially and should not be expected to be released this year. (Good news for adherents to the oft-quoted "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever" mantra.)

Without further ado, Nintendo's release plans for Japan are as follows:

Update: Because some items on this list threw me a little bit for a loop, I did actually get a few game titles slightly wrong in the original version of this story. Thanks to N-Forums' Samer for helping with those corrections.
