Peter MacDougall passed away March 19th 2004 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

"He was a gaming legend, not that he made the games, but he knew how to communicate to retailers and the media his passion for our industry," said Todd Mowatt. "He might not get voted into any hall of fames like Shigeru Miyamoto, but he is in the hall of fame in my heart for being such a great guy and for taking the time as he often did to teach me and others about our great industry!"

As a Nintendo of Canada spokesperson said, "We are all very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with such a wonderful person. Peter's presence, contributions, and smile will be greatly missed."

Effective February 1, 2002, Nintendo of America announced Peter MacDougall, then president of Nintendo of Canada, would replace Peter Main in his position of executive vice president, sales and marketing for Nintendo of America.

Nintendo said in January of 2002, "MacDougall joined Nintendo of Canada in 1989 and has overseen its explosive growth. In his new position, MacDougall will bring extensive knowledge of global marketing stemming from international postings at Nintendo, Gillette and Seagrams."

"Peters unique qualifications make him ideally suited for this job," said Minoru Arakawa, president, Nintendo of America Inc. in January of 2002. "His breadth of success is a distinct asset given the global nature of Nintendos business."

As executive vice president, Peter MacDougall oversaw all sales and marketing activities for Nintendo in the U.S., Canada and Latin America for all Nintendo products, including Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance hardware, software and peripherals. Peter reported directly to the president of Nintendo of America Inc., along with only three other executive vice presidents.

Prior to joining Nintendo of America in February 2002, MacDougall served as President of Nintendo of Canada Ltd. Peter has worked with Nintendo since 1989, serving as General Manager for Nintendo of Canada Ltd. for 10 years before becoming president of the company in 1999.

MacDougall came to Nintendo after many years with Gillette and later Joseph E. Seagram Ltd. In 1971, MacDougall joined Gillette Canada Ltd. and nine years later relocated to London, England to provide marketing management support to Gillette Europe. MacDougall invested 15 years with the company before returning to Canada in 1986 to become Seagram's Vice President, Marketing for Canada.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Peter held a Business Communications degree from Sir George Williams University.

N-Sider would like to thank Peter for his invaluable contributions to the Nintendo legacy. He will be sincerely missed.
