Koji Kondo is the sound engineer and music composer responsible for creating some of the most memorable tunes within the games industry. Kondo was born in August, 1960, in Osaka, Japan. Kondo is a graduate of the Art Planning Department of Osaka University of Arts. He joined Nintendo of Japan in April 1984. His first composition is perhaps also his most beloved - Super Mario Bros. This was shortly followed by The Legend of Zelda. Kondo contributed audio to Miyamoto's Entertainment & Analysis Development group for more than 15 years. Kondo's two most famous tracks, the level theme of Super Mario Bros. and the theme of The Legend of Zelda are about as recognized as an 80's pop song.
